Creating Pathways to Dignity and Self-Reliance

Since 1969, PACHE has partnered with the Association of Upper Egypt for Education and Development (AUEED) to create sustainable change in rural communities through education, health, and community development. Our work focuses on creating comprehensive support systems that help children and families build brighter futures while preserving their cultural heritage.

Each of our initiatives addresses a critical element of community development, working together to create sustainable change that transforms individual lives and entire villages.

Child Sponsorship Program

Transform a child’s future through education

Our flagship program connects Canadian sponsors with children in Upper Egypt, creating a personal bridge between cultures. For just $35 CAD monthly, your sponsorship ensures a child receives quality education that would otherwise be unaffordable for their family.

Through sponsorship, you’ll receive regular updates on your sponsored child’s progress and have the opportunity to exchange letters, creating a meaningful connection that enriches both your lives. Your tax-deductible contribution provides not just education, but hope and opportunity for a child in need.

School Education

Breaking cycles of poverty through quality education

Education is the foundation of all sustainable development. Through our partnership with AUEED, we support 35 schools serving 15,000 students across Upper Egypt—the largest network of Low-Cost Private Schools in the region.

These schools do more than teach academic subjects; they instill values of peace, tolerance, and community responsibility while providing quality education that public systems often cannot deliver in remote areas. Our comprehensive approach includes teacher training, parent involvement, and community engagement to create learning environments where children truly thrive.

School Health and Nutrition

Nourishing bodies to empower minds

A child cannot learn when hungry or ill. Our School Health Program addresses critical health and nutrition challenges that would otherwise prevent children from succeeding academically.

This initiative provides medical check-ups, nutritious meals, and health education to approximately 5,600 students annually, with special attention to the 1,360 children identified with anemia in 2022. Through our innovative Child-to-Child approach, students themselves become health ambassadors in their communities, creating sustainable change that extends beyond school walls.

Other Projects

Comprehensive solutions for complex challenges

Beyond our core programs, PACHE supports additional initiatives that address specific community needs and vulnerabilities. These include literacy projects, disability support programs, girls’ education initiatives, and integrated community development work.

By collaborating with partners like USAID, UNICEF, and the European Union, we leverage resources to maximize impact and create models that can be scaled and replicated. These complementary programs ensure our work addresses the interconnected challenges facing rural communities in Upper Egypt.
